Phyllis (O'Brien) Wilson

March 29, 1925 — December 1, 2016

Phyllis O'Brien Wilson passed away on December 1, 2016, at Southminster Hospice House of Charlotte. She was able to spend her last days in their loving care. Phyllis was born March 29, 1925, in Newton, MA, daughter of the late Richard C. O'Brien and Helen G. O'Connell. Phyllis was a beloved wife, mother, sister and “Gran” to her two grandsons. Her husband Robert J. Wilson, brother Richard M O’Brien and sister Patricia O. Collingwood, preceded Phyllis in death. She is survived by her daughter Kim Elizabeth McGinn (Gary) and her grandsons Mark Wilson McGinn (Margaret) and Nathan Isaac McGinn Phyllis married the love of her life “Bob” in 1953. They enjoyed living in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Carmel, CA as well as her favorite place Long Pond, MA. Throughout her life she volunteered for the American Cancer Society and Presbyterian Hospital Matthews. Phyllis participated in the sign language ministry at Calvary Church. She enjoyed working in antique shops and then at Stein Mart for more than ten years. Memorial Service will be in the Chapel at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Rd. on Thursday, December 8th at 4 p.m. The family will receive guests after the ceremony.
