Polly Hinson Thomas, 76, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was born February 18, 1942 in Union County, daughter of the late Gad and Daisy Hinson, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Edwards, two brothers, Joy Gad Hinson and Jerry Wilson Hinson. Polly was a very devoted member of Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. She was the owner and operator of Polly’s Beauty Salon for over 30 years. She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Sam Thomas; sons, Bobby (Michelle) Thomas of Monroe, Rick Thomas and fiancé Tammy of Myrtle Beach; sisters, Betty (Alex) Urewicz, Rosalie Outlaw, Donnie Sue (Tom) Collins, Debbie Kay (Phil) Belk, all of Monroe and Evelyn Mullis of Lancaster; brothers, William O’Neal Hinson (Susie), Billy Joe Hinson (Marietta) and Ronald Gerald Hinson (Delilah), all of Monroe; granddaughters, April Thomas, Amanda Thomas, Jamie Thomas and Sydney Thomas; lots of nieces and nephews and her special friend, Krista Griffin. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 3:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1:00pm until 2:45pm prior to the funeral service.
