Dateline: Wingate, NC Pope Lee Buford, III, 68, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012. He was born in Newberry, SC on October 21, 1943 son of the late Pope Lee and Nan Drucilla Dawkins Buford. A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Friday, September 7, 2012 at Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Buford is survived by his wife, Lynda Gurley Buford, sons, Lee and Brent Buford both of Greenville, SC and Jarrod Baucom of Monroe, daughter, Lisa Newsome of Wingate, grandchildren, Caylee Newsome, Hannah and Sarah Buford, Alexis Croutch, Abigail and Don Chavis, Ryder and Audrey Baucom and god son, Teddy Michael Webb of Hendersonville.
