Rabon Spencer Duck, age 76, of Monroe, NC died Nov. 24, 2014. Mr. Duck was born in Kenton, TN on April 12, 1938 to Carlie and Flora Duck. He was raised in Blue Island, IL, but he always returned to Kenton for joyful summers with his cousins. He attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville where he met Jan Davis. They were married in 1958 and had two daughters, Sandy and Susan. He entered the insurance field and spent most of his career working with independent agents across NC, retiring in 2008. He continued as a consultant until his death. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Churches of Charlotte and, most recently, Monroe. He served in numerous capacities including the Board of Deacons and as a Sunday school teacher. He knew more about the Civil War than Ken Burns and there was never any joke too corny to share. Most of all, he loved his family, friends, his church and especially the Then and Now Sunday School Class. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, November 29, 2014, at First Baptist, The family will visit prior to the service in the Family Life Center from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jean; Jan Davis Duck Beall, two daughters Sandy Duck, Susan and Rob Cheeley; his beloved grandchildren Sarah and Rachel Cheeley; nephews David and Daniel Duck and Daniel’s wife, Rachel; his dear cousins Barbara Ann and Ralph Perryman and their family.
