Rachel Narcissus Britt Cobb, a lady of great beauty, grace, and spirit, fell asleep in her home Tuesday November 20th 2018, not to be awakened this side of Eternity. Her husband was by her side. Her children and grandchildren had surrounded and lavished her with love in her final days. Dear friends traveled distances to sit with her. She lived 69 years before she gently surrendered to a nearly three yearlong battle with cancer, and passed through the veil into new life, where sickness and sorrow are no more. Born May 25th 1949 in Chamblee Georgia, just outside of Atlanta, Rachel was the eighth of nine children born to Marion and Rache Britt. She was a flower that grew from this rocky Earth. She was tenacious, ever fierce, quick to laugh and to love, and barely faded through time and illness. Rachel loved to read. She loved animals and the phases of the moon, took pleasure watching the birds feed in her back yard. She traveled the world with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She carried within her a spark of life wherever she went that touched whomever she met. Rachel wore a natural elegance that combined with her penchant for the fineries of life bore her the title “Queen” among family members. To her husband she was and will always be “Lammy”. Rachel was greatly loved, and will be missed by many that knew her, preeminently her husband Richard “Ric” Wayman Cobb. Rachel is survived by two sons and a daughter, Nathan Smith, George “Nick” Eassey, and Mallory Elizabeth Sganga and husband Matthew. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Audrie Elizabeth Griffin and husband Adam, Hannah Elizabeth Miller, Chloe Savannah Belk and husband Blake, Taylor Upchurch, Alyssa Smith and a great grandson Kayson Owens, sister Ethel Garmon and husband Charles, brother Rache “RE” Britt, and many nieces and nephews. Loved ones that cleared the path were her parents Rache and Marion Britt, sisters Mary Elizabeth Britt, Helen Adams, Doris McCallister, brothers, Warren Greg Britt, Thomas Britt, Allen Britt. A celebration of life will be held at Rachel’s beloved Stone Table in Monroe, NC on Saturday, January 12th at 4:00. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Union County.
