Rachel Baucom Secrest

Rachel Baucom Secrest, 83, of Monroe, NC passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. She was born in Union County on December 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Boyce Baucom and Gertrude Hill Baucom. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Baucom and Dick Baucom, and sisters, Betty Braswell, Cecil Baucom, Barbara Braswell, and Frankie Ramsey.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112 with burial to follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service.

Rachel started out as a young woman at a local Hosiery Mill then went on to Beautician school and served as a successful Beautician at the Spanish Curl for many years. It was not till she married the love of her life Mr. Ivan Secrest that she joined the family business. She and Ivan ran Secrest Wrecker & Crane service for many years. She was a member and actively involved at Shiloh Baptist Church where she served as a Lady’s Sunday School teacher for several years. She had a deep trust and served the Lord.

Rachel is survived by her loving husband Ivan Secrest, daughter Rhesa Phillips (Eric), brother, Dolan Baucom (Lucille), and Richard Baucom (JoAnne).

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 2301 N. Rocky River Road, Monroe, NC 28110, or Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28112.
