Ralph married the love of his life, Nell on August 21, 1954 and served his country first in the Army and later in the Air Force where he was a communications specialist. They lived in many places while raising their two children. Upon retiring from the military, Ralph and Nell made the decision to move to Waxhaw, NC in order to be close to family. There they started a small manufacturing business which remained successful for 20 years until they retired. Ralph was a gifted and talented man with a zest for life. He had many hobbies and interests. He had a love for aviation, actually being the first American citizen to earn a private pilot license in Germany after WWII. He shared that love of aviation with his son Dennis and later in his life obtained his private pilot license in the US. In 1986 Ralph and Dennis purchased a small plane which lead to many great father and son adventures all over the country. He was an avid gun enthusiast who always enjoyed the opportunity to spend time at the gun range. His greatest love was music, both playing and singing. He wrote many songs and recorded them in his home studio. He always looked forward to Monday and Friday nights where he cherished the opportunity to play with his group of musician friends. To know Ralph was to love him. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. Most of all he will be remembered as a devoted family man and great caregiver, especially to his son Ralph Jr. (Ralphie) who was the light of his life.
