Ralph Olus Conley, 80, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015. He was born October 26, 1934 in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late Hershel Lee and Eunice Rippy Conley. Mr. Conley never missed any event that his grandchildren participated in. He was a lover of racing, having worked at Charlotte Motor Speedway for over thirty years, where he made many friends. He worked at Clariant (formerly Sandoz Chemicals) for 42 years, where he retired. He served in the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany. He attended Mineral Springs United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 2:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1:00 -1:45 PM prior to the funeral service. Mr. Conley is survived by his sons, Mark (Donna) Conley and Mike (Cheri) Conley, both of Monroe; grandchildren, Jennifer Michel Conley-Presnell, Natalie Beth Bell, Wilson Dale Conley and Marcus Cade Conley; great-grandson, Maverick Scott Bell; brother, Kenneth (Mary Ellen) Conley of Matthews; aunt, Esther Carswell; and very special friend, Teresa Laney.
