Ray Turner Cook, 87, of Monroe, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021. He was born September 14, 1933 in Union County a son of the late Cam and Avis Morris Cook. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Waymon Cook and a sister Evelyn Richardson. Funeral services for Ray will be 4:00 PM Monday, July 12, 2021 in the Gordon Funeral Chapel 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112, with burial to follow in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service. Ray was a farmer and owned Cook Farms, he loved animals and hunting, he was an avid supporter of Crime Stoppers. Ray was a giving person who never wanted recognition for anything. He was the ultimate BBQ King. Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years, Violet Cook, four sons, Tony Cook, Rusty Cook (Beth), Ronnie Cook (Melissa), Aaron Cook all of Monroe, a sister, Jane McWhorter of Monroe, five grandchildren, Emily Cook, Jordan Cook, Austin Cook (Marissa), Jackson Cook, Lela Cook and his beloved dog, Bear. The family requests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The Cook family wanted to extend a very special thank you to nurses, Janet and Laura of Atrium Union for their care and compassion they provided Mr. Cook and his family.
