Ray Thomas Ross Sr., 86, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2017. He was born in Union County on December 21, 1930, son to the late Howard and Alice Richardson Ross. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis Ross, Jr., Clifford Ross, and Smith Ross, two sisters, Velma Griffin and Dorothy Keziah.
Mr. Ross attended Kings College and graduated from Queens College. He retired from General Motors where he worked for 36 years. He was long time member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Charlotte and Mineral Springs United Methodist Church. He also spent his time volunteering with Hospice and won the Governor’s award for his volunteer service. Ray was known for his sense of humor and his love for his family, woodworking, playing golf, and gardening.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, 5915 Old Waxhaw-Monroe Rd. Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 11:50 AM at the church. Burial will be held at Lakeland Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Mr. Ross is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Marian Ross, son, Dr. Ray Thomas Ross Jr., wife Jennifer of Dahlonega, GA, daughter, Susan Ross of Charlotte, brother, Bill Ross, wife Gloria of Chester, two grandchildren, Carter Ross, Shelby Ross, and his loyal dog Goober.
