Rennie Celeste (Peay) Damon

Rennie Peay Damon, 63, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was born in Mecklenburg County on October 1, 1954, daughter of LaRose Richardson Peay and the late John Brawley Peay, Jr. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilton (Sonny) E. Damon Jr. After attending Appalachian State University, Rennie worked in the mortgage industry and later with her husband at Carolina Appraisal. She retired from Sun Valley High School as an assistant to the Media Specialist in 2015. After retirement she volunteered in the Media Center at Walter Bickett Elementary School and helped care for her grandchildren. Rennie loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mom, Grana, sister, daughter, aunt, Godmother and friend. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Central United Methodist Church with burial to follow the service at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm in Central Hall. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Damon is survived by two step-sons; Wilton Evans Damon III, wife Nikki of Waxhaw, and Hal Damon of Monroe, daughter-n-law, Lori Williams, husband Brian of Charlotte, three sisters, Sherry Brantley, husband Dillon, Debbie Ashcraft, husband John, and Pam Sanders, husband Jody, four grandchildren; Nicoleous Damon, Harper Damon, Dory Anna Damon, and Cate Damon, and several nieces and nephews.
