Rev. Robert Eugene Latta

Rev. Robert Eugene Latta, age 83, of Monroe NC passed from this life on Saturday, April 22 after a brief stay at Hospice of Union County. Rev. Latta was born in Burlington, NC on July 7, 1933 to the late Ralph and Lake Pyrtle Latta. He was preceded in death by 2 sons; David E Latta and Robbie Latta; brother Donald J Latta. Rev. Latta served as pastor at First Baptist Church of Alamance for 20 years and then continued his ministry at Macedonia Baptist Church in Monroe for 33 years until his retirement in 2005, he then served for several years as part-time Visitation Pastor for Lee Park Church. Rev. Latta is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Bare Latta; 2 sons; Christopher “Kit” Latta (Sharon) and Barry Latta (Cara); 5 grandchildren; Stephen Latta, Rachel Capps (Chris), Andrew Latta, Jamison Latta, and Nathan Latta. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Lee Park Church, 2505 Morgan Mill Rd. Monroe, NC 28110. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive guests Monday, April 24, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Lee Park Church, 2505 Morgan Mill Rd. Monroe, NC 28110 or Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd. Monroe, NC 28110.
