Richard Martin Dowless

Richard Martin Dowless, age 65 of Monroe, NC, went home to be with the Lord May 16, 2018. He was born in Robeson County on September 26, 1952, son of the late Worth and Emma Lou Dowless. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 19th, 2018 at Community Church of Monroe, 224 East Old Hwy 74, Monroe, NC 28112, with entombment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00pm until 1:45pm in the sanctuary. He was raised in Bladen County and has a rich heritage in farming and agriculture. After acquiring a degree in agriculture education from NC State University, he taught Ag education at the middle and high school level in Anson County. After a few years he moved to Union County and worked with the Cooperative Extension Service. He then became interested in real estate and was a realtor until he retired. He was a godly man with a strong faith in God. He enjoyed helping others and often worked quietly behind the scenes. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; a sister Sandra Rich husband Ted of Bladenboro, NC., sister-in-law Betty Lehman husband Rick of Charlottesville, VA., the late sister-in-law Theresa Howle and husband Bert of Hazel Green, AL., nephews and nieces Wesley Rich wife Laura of Angier, NC., Corey Rich wife Amy of Bladenboro, NC., Sandy Howle of Hazel Green, AL., Natalie Howle of Harvest, AL., Rebecca Corvin husband Tyler of Lyman, SC., and Ryan Lehman wife Whitney of New City, NY., great-nephews and nieces, Ellie, Nate and Emmi Rich, and Aiden Corvin.
