Rick Dean Shrum, 60, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016. He was born June 15, 1955 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Mason Kenneth and Frances Katherine Hooper Shrum. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joshua Neil Shrum. Mr. Shrum was retired from Nascar Technical Institute, with over 40 years of experience in the automotive field. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 3:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC. The family will visit with friends and relatives following the memorial service. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Wilkins Shrum; sons, Greg Shrum of Mineral Springs and Caleb Shrum of Belmont; grandchildren, Dalton, Ava, Truett and Judah Shrum; and a sister, Kathy Simpson of Charlotte, NC.
