Robert “David” Baucom, 66, of Monroe, NC passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Union County on November 11, 1954, son of Carolyn Reeder Baucom and the late Charlie Thurlow Baucom. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Hope Second Advent Christian Church, 6804 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112. Mr. Baucom retired from Piedmont High School where he coached and mentored many youths in the area. He had an avid love for sports and coached girls fast pitch softball for many years. David is survived by his loving wife Deborah Hasty Baucom, their daughters, Brandy Billingsley (Ryan) and Sarah Mintz (Paul), mother Carolyn Baucom, sister Diane Ray (Glenn), six grandchildren, Kimberly, Hailey and Charley Billingsley, Elijah, Nathaniel and Josiah Mintz.
