Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Thomas Alexander, 84, passed away at his home on June 25, 2026. He was born in Union County, NC on April 1, 1942, Bobby was the son to the late Hazel “Bus” Alexander and Ruby Spittle Alexander. He is also preceded in death by his son Robert “Robbie” Wayne Alexander.

Bobby enjoyed being outdoors, He loved being at home, working in the yard, and spending time with his wife Mary. His passion was creating landscaping projects around his home and pond. Bobby loved riding on his tractor, gator, and lawnmowers. His workshop could be considered a hardware store and doubled as a place he shared with his friends that dropped by for a visit.

Bobby worked for Charlotte Pipe & Foundry in Charlotte, NC, where he retired after 40 years of service. He was a foreman who loved his job and the men under his supervision. Bobby was well respected and a friend to all his co-workers.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Mary Helms Alexander of 66 years, brother, Philip Alexander, two sisters, Joy Tewell, Ann Boatright (Ronnie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112, with a burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 1:45 PM.

A special thank you to his niece Vicky, VIA Hospice of Charlotte, and others who assisted in the personal care and devotion to Bobby’s every need over the past few months. With planning, love, and dedication Bobby’s wishes to remain at home during his final weeks were made possible.
