Robert "Bob" Davis

Dateline: Waxhaw, NC Robert (Bob) Alexander Davis of Waxhaw, NC passed away peacefully March 20, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews, NC. Bob was born in Union County on April 5, 1926 to the late William N. Davis and Ione Plaxco Craig Davis. After serving in the Navy during World War II, Bob graduated from Erskine College, Class of 1950, Due West, S. C. with a degree in history. Bob retired from Springs Industries after working over 40 years. He loved gardening, working in his yard and growing the best tomatoes in this area. Bob played tennis from a very young age and over the years won many trophies. He continued to play tennis during his senior years and won many awards during this time. Bob was an accomplished pianist and an excellent bridge player. Bob is also preceded in death by his brothers, Newman and William; sisters, Isabel, Nancy and Emily and nephew, John Myers. Bob is survived by a step-son, Will Bolt and wife Carol of Waxhaw, special friend, Marie McMillan of Charlotte, other step-children, nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 23, 2012 at Tirzah Presbyterian Church, 7507 Tirzah Church Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173. Dr. John E. Hill will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00PM – 1:45PM preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to JAARS, Inc PO Box 248, Waxhaw NC, 28173 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
