Robert Earl Downs

Robert Earl “Bob” Downs, 87, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018. He was born August 20, 1931 in Cleveland County, NC son of the late Charlie Festus & Rosey Peeler Downs. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Fay Wray Downs. Bobby was a retired project manager with Dickerson Inc, & State Utilities. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1417 W. Unionville Indian Trail Road, Indian Trail NC 28079. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM in the sanctuary. Bob is survived by his loving wife Margaret Steed Downs, her children, Samuel Gaffney, Cherry Gaffney Smith, and Glenn Gaffney, a son Robert Scott Downs, wife Judith of Angier, NC, two daughters; Ginny Downs, husband John Campbell, of Spruce Pines, NC and Cindi Greene, husband Jesse of Clover, SC, four grandchildren; Christopher Downs, Anna Downs, Maggie Downs, and Daniel Downs, one step-grandson Scott Campbell.
