Obituary

Rodney Whittaker, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. He was born June 25, 1934, son of the late William Cash Whittaker and Lillie Beasley Whittaker. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Whittaker and grandson, Cory Whittaker.

Funeral services with military honors will be held from the graveside at 11:00AM, Monday, January 10, 2022 in Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112, with his son, Rev. Chris Whittaker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Rodney served in the Korean Conflict with the US Air Force in the NSA, and also as a civilian in the FBI. He retired from General Telephone Company (GTE). He also attended Waxhaw Baptist Church.

Rodney is survived by his two sons, Daniel Whittaker (Melanie) of North Port, FL, and Chris Whittaker (Laura) of Monroe, NC; long time friend, Faye Hinson; three grandsons, Christopher Whittaker (Erica), Brenden Whittaker and Jake Whittaker (Hope); and one great-grandson, Joseph Whittaker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waxhaw Baptist Church Building Fund, 8213 Old Waxhaw Monroe Rd., Waxhaw, NC 28173.
