Roger Dale Long

Roger Dale Long, 67, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016. He was born April 29, 1949, in Union County to Betty McManus Long and the late Samuel Olin Long. Roger was a self-employed brick mason and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed skeet shooting and fishing. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his father, Roger was preceded in death by his son, Brian Dale Long. In addition to his mother, Roger is survived by his wife, Marsha Reedy Long; son, Jeffrey Scott Long and wife, Kimberly, of Monroe; two grandchildren, Juliana and Ryan Long of Monroe; and two sisters, Jo Ann Long Griffin and husband, Carroll Wayne, of Monroe, and Sandy Long Hinson and husband, Dean, of Indian Trail. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 6907 Gus Eubanks Road, Monroe, NC 28112. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Following interment, the family will greet friends and relatives in the church fellowship hall. Gordon Funeral Service Crematory is caring for the Long family.
