Obituary

Roscoe Bryce Thomas, 96, died Sunday, April 2, 2017. He was born December 22, 1920, in Mecklenburg County, NC, son to the late Henry Lee Myrtle Laura Torrence Thomas. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Eldis Bowden Thomas, and a son Rondle Lewis Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a WWII US Army Veteran. He served in the 634th Tank Destroyer Battalion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his part in taking out two German tanks during one of the battles. Roscoe was a retiree of Parks-Cramer after 49 years and was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112. Mr. Thomas is survived by his son Mike Thomas, and wife Wanda of Monroe, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
