Roy "Ed" Simpson

Roy Edwin “Ed” Simpson, 91, passed away Friday, March 04, 2016. He was born October 28, 1924 in Union County son to the late Robert LeRoy Eula Mae Starnes Simpson. He is also preceded in death by his first wife Mary Thompson Simpson, a brother Allison Simpson, and a sister Lena Robinson. Mr. Simpson was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Army. He served in the European theater during WWII, (AKA) The European War, and received two Purple Hearts. He was a 1951graduate of Clemson College, and a member of Waxhaw Chapter of Masonic Lodge 562. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Tirzah Presbyterian Church, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit following the service. Ed is survived by his wife Nelda Shaw Simpson, two sons, Roy Edwin Simpson, Jr., wife Susan of Winston Salem, and Mike Simpson of Anderson, SC, and a granddaughter Courtney Simpson of Clover, SC. Memorials may be made to Tirzah Presbyterian Church 7507 Tirzah Church Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
