Roy Douglas Williamson, 64, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007. He was born in Morven, NC on May 14, 1943 son of the late Roy and Beatrice Williamson. Douglas graduated from Morven High School, attended Wingate College and Gaston Technical Institution. He served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam war. Douglas had a passion for restoring classic cars such as his 1962 Corvette and building race cars. Through the years he worked on cars that raced at Monroe, Lancaster and Concord Speedways. Douglas was employed as an engineer at Estul Tool Mfg. Co., Inc. in Matthews for 34 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Stack Williamson, of the home, brother, Steve Williamson and his wife, Frances Ann of Wadesboro, niece Stephenie and great nephew of Wadesboro. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Gordon Funeral Cremation Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215.
