Ruth Secrest Alexander, 83, passed away, Tuesday, September 22, 2015. She was born in Burke County, NC on November 17, 1931 daughter of the late Eugene Henly and Amanda Odell Hall Secrest. Mrs. Alexander was retired from the Union County NC Cooperative Extension Service. The family will receive friends Friday, September 25, 2015, from 1:00 until 1:45 PM in the fellowship hall at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Alexander is survived by a son, Eugene Alexander of Monroe, daughters, Robin A. Embry of Winston Salem and Jennifer A. Higgi of Charlotte, brothers, Joseph and Jonathan Secrest, sisters, Carolyn McDaniel and Hannah Baker, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
