Ruth Burrows East, 74, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 as a resident of White Oaks nursing home in Waxhaw. She was born in Washington, DC on March 3, 1939 daughter of the late Lester and Alice Coleback Burrows. The family will receive friends Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5:00 until 5:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 followed by a private memorial service at 6:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Chapel. Mrs. East is survived by a brother, Charles Thomas Burrows of Virginia, and children Candy Lasater of Oklahoma, Arlene Kierce of Mooresville, Ruby Clanton of Sharon, SC, Joe East of Mineral Springs, Vickie Ramsey of Concord, and Barbara Leyva of Monroe, as well as 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her fiancé Chris Reyes and sister, Barbara Pike.
