Dateline: Monroe, NC Ruth Elaine Ashley Helms, 64, died Thursday, September 25, 2008. Mrs. Helms was born in Wilkes County, NC, April 8, 1944, daughter of the late Austin and Mae Goforth Ashley. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 29, 2008 at 5:00PM in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:50 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Ruth is survived by her husband Ralph W. Helms, Sr.; sons Ralph W. “Buzzy” Helms, Jr. and wife Tammy and Wynne Helms and wife Robin both of Monroe, NC; brother Rayvonne Ashley of North Wilkesboro, NC; sisters Clara Shelton of Havelock, NC, Geraldine Show and Aretta Murphy both of California and Brenda Maucher of Pennsylvania and five grandchildren.
