Ruth Hilton Haney

Dateline: Monroe, NC Ruth Hilton Haney, 87, of Monroe, NC passed away at Presbyterian Hospital Harris Hospice Center on Sunday, June 10, 2012. She was born January 26, 1925 in Union County to the late White and Allie Hilton. Ruth was a homemaker all her life. She was an avid golfer and loved the game of bridge. She was a member of Rolling Hills Country Club and an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church for 65 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jackson “Jack” Haney on March 19, 2012. Mrs. Haney is survived by her sons, Kenneth J. Haney of Ashe, NC and Thomas J. Haney, Jr. and wife Beverly of Monroe, NC, five grandchildren, Shannon H. Landrum and husband Don, Jackson Haney, Jake Haney, Jared Haney, Jaden Haney and two great grandchildren, Aubrey Landrum and Grant Landrum. She is also survived by a sister, Hazel Aycoth of Monroe, NC. The family will receive friends at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112, on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 12:30 until 1:45 pm with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel, conducted by Pastor Ron Riddley and Rev. Greg Collins. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, c/o Ruth Hartsell, 2615 Foxworth Dr., Monroe, NC 28110.
