Ruth Eubanks Hunter, 91, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016. She was born August 16, 1925 in Union County, daughter of the late James Roy Sarah Smith Eubanks. She is also preceded in death by her husband Smiley Funderburk “Jack” Hunter. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM Tuesday December 13, 2016 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe NC 28112, followed by a memorial service stating at 2:00 PM. Ruth was a retired school teacher. She graduated from Winthrop University where she earned her Master’s Degree, and she was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested Samaritan Fund, 733 Plantation Estates Dr. Matthews NC 28105.
