Dateline: Monroe, NC Ruth Thomas Morris, 89, of Weston, Florida, formerly of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Weston. She was born in Union County, NC on September 19, 1921 daughter of the late W. Luther and Julia Smith Thomas. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 13, 2011, from 1:00 until 2:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, R. Heath Morris. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Morris Jones of Weston, Florida, grandson, Jeffrey C. Jones and wife Linda and two great grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Jones.
