Ruth Kindley Secrest, age 87, the daughter of the late Dorothy Grace Garrison Kindley and the late James Robert Kindley passed away peacefully on March 19th 2021 in the Novant Health facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the wife of the late Tommy Neal Secrest of Monroe, North Carolina and they were married for 64 years. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2301 North Rocky River Road, on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 2 P.M., with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, from 1 until 1:45 P.M. at the church. Mrs. Secrest is survived by her sister, Kay Kindley Killough and husband Dr. Richard Killough of Huntersville, NC and nephew, Dr. Brian Killough and wife, Judy Killough and children, Jake, Paul and Hannah Killough and her niece Kara Ruth Killough King and her daughter Kara Grace King all of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her special Aunt Martha Garrison Griffin age 99 of Monroe, North Carolina. Mrs. Secrest graduated from Indian Trail High School in 1952. She had many lasting friendships with her classmates and they have continued to have class reunions each year since graduation. After graduation, she attended Woman’s College in Greensboro, North Carolina where she majored in business. Ruth began her professional career as an executive secretary with Western Electric in Charlotte, NC which later changed to AT&T. She retired with the same position after serving the company 48 years. Memorial gifts may be made to the Music Department at Shiloh Baptist Church. Ruth was the organist of the church for many years and played for many weddings and funerals during this time.
