Sammie Eugene Helms, 66, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021. He was born August 11, 1954 in Union County son to Virginia Elizabeth “Lib” Helms, and the late Brooks Harding Helms. He is also preceded in death by his wives, Phyllis Gill Helms and Monica Renee Helms as well as a brother-in-law Clyde Walton Long. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, 2915 Goldmine Road, Monroe, NC 28110. Sammie is survived by sons: Randall Helms, wife Elizabeth, Landan Helms, and Matthew Helms, daughters: Sandy Surratt, husband Steve, and Amanda Powell, husband Chad, a brother Roger Helms, wife Robin, two sisters: Mary Jane Long, and Vivian Helms, husband Richard, five grandchildren, Lyndsey Nance, Riley Nance, Kylie Helms, Jaxon Powell, and Tegan Helms.
