Samuel Douglas Dixon passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2024, at the age of 38. Sam was a proud lifelong resident of Union County. He lived a full-hearted life, and loved golf, NASCAR, the Carolina Panthers, loud friends, music, giving back to his community and, more than anything else, his family. Sam graduated from Piedmont High School, and attended UNC-Charlotte and Central Piedmont. He spent his entire work life employed by Fluid Flow in Charlotte.
Sam was predeceased by his mother Lisa McGinnis Dixon. He is survived by his father Doug Dixon and Doug’s wife Ruthie; by his grandmother Ellen McGinnis, and by a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Sam also leaves behind a list of close friends too long to print.
A memorial service honoring Sam’s life will be held Saturday, July 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service at 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC, 28112, followed by a visitation with the family in the adjacent parlor.
Sam loved contributing his considerable energy to his favorite charity, Hometown Heroes, and the family requests that anyone so inclined would make donations in Sam’s memory to the organization, online at htheroes.org, or by mail at P.O. Box 953, Monroe North Carolina, 28111.
