Sandra Powell Wallace

Sandra Joan (Powell) Wallace, 80, passed away peacefully March 31, 2025. She was born in Mobile, Al on June 19, 1944, daughter to the late Canie and Estelle Powell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Frank Rodney Wallace, and her brother, Jerry Powell.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, in Price Cemetery, 4817 Friendly Church Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079.

She is survived by her children, daughter Michelle Wallace Smith (Stephen) of NC, and son Chris Wallace (Karen) of MS. Grandchildren: Hannah Massey (Brent), Leah Raby (Joseph), Zach Wallace (Ashlee), Madi McFarland (Josh), Grayson Wallace (fiancé Anna), and Gwynna Smith. Great grandchildren: Cooper Wallace, Graham McFarland, Isaac Raby and Kaia Raby.

She is also survived by her loving sister, Patricia Sprague to whom she was very close.

She was a faithful follower of Christ until the very end and was a member of Kannapolis Church of Christ and Central Union Church of Christ. Sandra was an avid gardener and reader. Nothing delighted her more than spending time outside with her plants. She enjoyed going to garden centers and reading about plants, flowers, and landscaping. Even in the nursing home, weather permitting, she was often found outside in her wheelchair tending to the plants and picking weeds. Sandra previously worked in billing and did medical transcription. She was a quiet, reserved person by nature, but well-liked for her quick wit and friendly, caring nature.

Sandra will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.
