Sarah Martha (Van Doren) Baer, of Waxhaw, NC passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021. Born in Trenton, NJ on January 16, 1950. She is survived by her husband Phil; daughter Michelle; son Josh, partner Lauren Watson; Sister Cathy, husband Ron Rose; Sister Carol, late husband Larry Rommel. Sarah graduated from Covenant College in 1971. She served with Wycliffe Bible Translators, in Cameroon, Africa, for 14 years followed by various management roles at JAARS in Waxhaw, NC until she retired in 2020. She is known for her extraordinary kindness, hard work, willingness to go the extra mile, and her commitment to ensure the Bible is available in every language. The family will receive friends at Gordon Funeral Home in Monroe, NC from Tuesday, September 28th from 6 to 8pm. A memorial service will be held at First ARP Church in Lancaster, SC on Wednesday, September 29th at 2pm. The family requests that masks be worn. Refreshments and an opportunity to talk with family members will be available in the Fellowship Hall following the Memorial Service. In lieu of gifts or flowers the family request memorials be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, PO Box 628200 Orlando, FL 32862-8200, Project Name: Harero Maya; Project ID: 803133.
