Sarah Jo Keziah died peacefully on September 11, 2018, at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe, N.C. Sarah was born September 19, 1949 in Monroe, N.C. She was the daughter of a Loree and Norma P. Keziah. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael Keziah. Sarah was devoted to her family who loved her dearly. She is survived by her nephews, Barrett Michael Keziah of Raleigh, N.C., Tyler Brooks Keziah of Asheboro, N.C., and Cameron Burton Keziah (Mandy) of West Jefferson, N.C.; her great-nephews, Tristan and Connor, and her great-niece, Charlotte, and her devoted sister-in-law, Carolyn Keziah of Norwood, N.C. Sarah graduated from University of North Carolina Greensboro in 1972 with a degree in Health and Physical Education and from Appalachian University in 1976 with a master’s degree in Physical Education. In 2002, she received certification in Exceptional Children from Winthrop University. For twenty-eight years, Sarah taught in Union County and Stanly County schools. In 2012, she received the honor of UCPS Exceptional Children Teacher of the Year Award. A service celebrating the life of Sarah Keziah will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, N.C., with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Cindy Goodwin Fisher will be officiating.
