Sarah O'Shields Layton, 72, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011. She was born June 12, 1939 in Mecklenburg County, NC daughter to the late Lewis Elmer and Daisy Sullivan O'Shields. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2011 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe NC 28112, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Sarah is survived by her loving husband Douglas Doug Eugene Layton, a daughter Carolyn L. Daniels of Marshville, a son Mike Case of Lexington, SC, a step son Douglas Doug Eugene Layton, Jr. of Columbia, SC, two step daughters Crystal Layton of Gaston, SC and Teresa Layton of Mt. Pleasant, SC, two grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
