Sarah Joyce Dayvault Williams, 88, of Deep Gap, NC formally of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully at Amore Hospice in Hudson, NC, on Thursday, May 16, 2024. She was born in Salisbury, NC on March 31, 1936 daughter to the late Alfred Chester Dayvault and Della Mae Roberts Dayvault, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Owen Vernon Williams; as well as brother, Jack Dayvault; and grandson, William W. Owens.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 909 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM in the church.
Mrs. Williams was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Luthern Church until she moved to live in her beloved Blue Ridge Mountains. She was a brilliant educator for over 30 years. She was selected to teach for a year at UNC Chapel Hill. After retirement from teaching, she became an AIM in the Lutheran Church. She was a great writer with published education articles. She often wrote stories to her daughters about family members, events, and beloved pets.
Sarah is survived by her daughters, Chery W. Harris, husband Rodney Harris of Comanche, OK, Leah F. Williams of the home, sister-in-law Martha K. Dayvault of Concord, NC two granddaughters, Kelly O. McFarland, husband Ian McFarland of Oak Harbor, WA, and Heather H. Bean, husband Henry Bean of Lawton, OK., grandson, Harly Harris of Lawton, OK., nieces, Jan Smith, husband Harold Smith of Concord, NC, and Kay D. Ormand, husband John Ormand of Linville Falls, NC, as well as great-grandchildren and cousins.
