Shirley Ann Grubb Hall, 89, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Washington, D.C. on December 5, 1935, daughter to the late Bernard Grubb and Edith McFarland Grubb.
Shirley was a devout Christian whose faith guided every part of her life. She was an active member of the Women’s Missionary Union and led the Girls in Action programs at both Providence Baptist Church in Hickory, North Carolina, and Salem Baptist Church in Weeksville, North Carolina. Her dedication to serving others and teaching young girls about faith and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone she met. A proud graduate of Longwood College, Class of 1958, Shirley valued education deeply and shared that passion throughout her life. She retired from the Montgomery County School System in Troy, North Carolina, where she served as the beloved Librarian at East Middle School. Her love of books and learning inspired countless students throughout her years of service.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Holly Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, 536 Holly Mount Church Road, Mt. Gilead, NC 27229.
Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Rev. Benjamin Lee Hall; two sons, Kenneth “Ken” Hall (Tiffany) and Thomas Hall (Jamie); daughter, Libby Pope; brother, Al Grubb (Tania); sister, Jane Cheek (Ray); four grandchildren, Webber Hall, Virginia Hall, Hannah Stanford (Ian), and Dara Hall (fiancé Matt Seitz); and a special fur grand-dog, Rudy.
