Shirley “Dean” Howey, 88, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. She was born in Union County, NC on February 15, 1938, daughter to the late Baxter Grady Clontz and Ella Elizabeth Crowell Clontz. She is also preceded in death by her husband Hazel Howey, and brother, William Clontz.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Greg Howey (Amy), Billy Howey, four grandchildren, Heather Howey, Chris Howey (Julia), Katie Howey, Crystal Grasso (Marco), four great-grandchildren, Tracen Traywick, Hudson Traywick, Stella Howey, Alivia Grasso, Marco Grasso Jr., and a sister, Linda Rossette (Jack).
