Shirley Benton Helms was born on May 2, 1936 and passed away on December 28, 2013 at 2:55 am. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Helms, and her parents Elmer Benton and Annie Blalock. She is survived by her brother: Gene and his wife Bonnie Benton; 3 children: Gail and David Norris; Scott and Melanie Helms; and Steve and Vonnie Helms; and also 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held December 29, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Gordon Funeral Service Crematory 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112, a graveside funeral service will be December 30, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Lucy Helms Cemetery, 4316 Hillcrest Church Rd.
