Shirley Ann Schmidt

Shirley Ann Schmidt, born Shirley Ann Schildt on September 29, 1938, in Thurmond, MD, peacefully passed away on May 28, 2024, in Waxhaw, NC, at the age of 85. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert; daughters, Dianne Wheeler of Monroe, NC, Susan Schmidt of Pikesville, MD, Karen Odell, and her husband Bill of Simpsonville, SC; son, David and his wife Monica of Canton, GA, along with 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Waxhaw United Methodist Church, 200 McDonald Street, Waxhaw, NC 28173, with burial to follow at the Waxhaw City Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service.

In her earlier years, Shirley enjoyed working as a soda jerk in Pikesville, MD. After getting married, she dedicated her time to raising her family. Once the children were older, she worked at a bank, but she found a job she loved at the Pikesville public library, from which she retired. Shirley was a proud alumna of Milford Mill High School in Pikesville, MD.

A devoted member of the Waxhaw United Methodist Church in Waxhaw, NC, Shirley found solace in her faith. She cherished her time spent with her beloved cats and indulging in her passion for reading books.
