Shirlie Autry Deese

Shirlie Autry Deese, 86, of Monroe, NC gained her angel wings and passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Avendelle Assisted Living in Wingate, NC.

Shirlie graduated from Central Piedmont Community College in 1970 with an Associate's Degree in Registered Nursing. Her entire nursing career was with Atrium Union and she loved her work immensely, making friends every day of her life. It was impossible to go anywhere with her without her seeing people she knew. She was a lifetime member of Philadelphia Baptist Church until Alzheimer's took over her life, she missed very few Sundays in the Lord's house.

She was passionate about flowers and animals and would take pictures of them, sharing those pictures and with family and friends. Shirlie loved people and volunteered at local nursing facilities, either doing activities with them or engaging them in singing when she played the piano. She had a very strong faith in our Lord and she loved playing the piano, particularly hymns. Shirlie will be remembered as a selfless, loving and care person. Her quick witted and
feisty personality will be missed as well as all the times she made us laugh.

Preceded in death by her parents, Martha Morris and Clyde Autry, her Aunt Lillie and Uncle Broads Rogers who lovingly raised her, husband Aaron, and brothers Gene Autry and Wayne Autry.

Shirlie is survived by her children, Ricky Deese of Charlotte, Kim Deese of Indian Trail, and a very special nephew, Darien Autry of Monroe, NC.

She will lie in wake at Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC where friends may come by to pay their respects and sign the register 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday, July 18 and from 10:00 AM to 12 PM Tuesday July 19, 2022. A private family only graveside service will be held at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Marshville, NC on Tuesday July 19, 2022.
