Sidney Denver Griffin

Dateline: Monroe, NC Sidney Denver Griffin, 75, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009. He was born in Union County, NC on May 6, 1933 son of the late Sidney McCoy and Thetus Melton Griffin. Mr. Griffin was also preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Helms Griffin, son, Greg Griffin, brothers, Charlie and Lavern Griffin, sisters, Myrtle Montgomery, Virginia Martin and Paris Brooks. Mr. Griffin was a retired grocery manager. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 in the fellowship hall of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Byrum Griffin, son, Mike Griffin of Monroe, daughter, Terry G. Starnes of Monroe, step-sons, Danny Simpson of Dayton, Ohio, Greg Simpson of Gastonia, and Thomas Simpson of Monroe, sister, Gervis Starnes of Monroe, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren.
