Smith Lee Underwood, Sr. 92 of Monroe, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024. He was born in Union County, NC on January 27, 1932 son to the late Loyd Underwood and Sara Clark Underwood. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Clara Mae Mills Underwood, as well as his son, Smith Lee Underwood Jr., brother, William Underwood.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, July 18, 2024 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friend prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe NC 28112

Smith is survived by his two sons, Tom Underwood. Sr. (Linda), Gerald Underwood (Elizabeth), nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
