Stephen “Steve” Allen Coan, 69, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018. Steve was born in Mecklenburg County on December 10, 1948, son of the late Walter Otis and Pearl Suggs Coan. He was also preceded in death by his sister Jacquline Coan Broome. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Penny Garwood Coan, two daughters Samantha Coan Martin, husband Allen of Lyman, SC, Amanda Coan Watts, husband Andrew of Matthews, NC, a brother, Michael Edward Coan, wife Chris of Charlotte, NC, a sister, Betty Mikki Howie of Fort Mill, SC, four grandchildren, Brandon, Alexa, and Camryn Martin of Lyman, SC, Alison Watts of Matthews, NC and his beloved 4 legged daughter Elly May. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1901 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home until 5:00PM.
