Obituary

Stephen Goth, 81, of Waxhaw, NC passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 25, 1945, son to the late Ferdinand Goth and Emily Mickunas Goth. He is also preceded by his two sisters, Rita Hoelper and Fernanda Kinsch, and brother, David Goth.

A memorial service is planned, but date and location are to be determined.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Tyndall Goth, son, Brian Hawkins (Hillary), three daughters, Amy Erenius (David), Amanda Stinchomb (Shawn), Sarah Weibley (Deron), as well as eight grandchildren, Andrew Mullen, Leighanna Woolard, Wyatt Stinchcomb, Benjamin Stinchcomb, Henry Hawkins, Noah Hawkins, Lucy Weibley, and George Weibley.

With a collection of three college degrees, Stephen had a long career with Rohm and Haas Company. He began his career in the Research Division as a chemist in Paper and Textiles, where he developed formulations that landed him three patents. He eventually turned to computers and worked in the Research IT department for many years. After retiring, he started his own consulting business, where he helped design and implement relational databases for the pharmaceutical industry.

An avid football fan, his allegiances were always with the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State. When his children were young, Steve coached basketball and softball. He also played golf and racquetball and was always ready for a game of poker.

During retirement Steve became a world traveler, visiting Switzerland, Germany, France, England and Scotland, the Canadian Rockies, the South Pacific and Alaska. Alaska was always his favorite and anytime travel was mentioned, Alaska was always his choice of destination.

Steve raised four children and enjoyed eight grandchildren. In his final hours, one of his last actions was to write a letter to his grandchildren telling them how much they meant to him.

Even though he was born with cerebral palsy and lived with it his entire life, he never let it define who he was or limit what he wanted to do. He passed away in the same manner he lived his life; on his own terms and in his own time. Stephen Goth truly, lead an extraordinary life.
