Mr. Steven Crowell “Steve” Mills, 67, of Monroe, NC passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026. He was born in Union County on February 23, 1958, and the son of Eloise Crowell Mills Ellis and Calvin J. Mills.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Michelle M. Mills, daughter; Ashley Knight (Chris), and son; Alexander Mills, along with three grandsons: Maddox, Dexton, and Brox Knight. He was preceded in death by parents and his brother, Reggie, and is survived by his sister, Sue Whitley, and sister-in-law Terri Mills.

He was a loving, devoted husband and father whose humor and kindness spread to many. He had a special bond with his three grandchildren, which will leave an everlasting impression. His life-long faith in Jesus Christ flourished and matured allowing him great comfort for his last 2 ½ years. Music was one of Steve’s greatest passions. He found peace and expression through playing the guitar, often filling rooms with melodies that reflected his heart. Though cancer claimed his earthly life, it never touched his soul. Today, he rejoices in heaven, fully healed, fully restored, and welcomed by the Savior he loved so dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church, 302 E Windsor St, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends following the service in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
