Stony Dwight Rushing

Stony Dwight Rushing, 51, of Wingate, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Union County on October 5, 1971, the son of Rocky Rushing (Kathy) and Connie Furr (Doug).

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 14, 2023, with Rev. Mark Harris officiating the service at Trinity Baptist Church, 2613 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery, 3601 Sikes Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Stony was a long-serving member of the Union County Board of Commissioners and he was currently serving as Chairman of the Board. He was a dedicated servant and leader for his community, he always put others first; his legacy will continue to live on.

Stony is survived by his wife Anne-Marie Groff Rushing and their two children Reagan Rushing (Hailey Lippe) and RyLee Rushing, brother Morgan Rushing, sister Lindsay Curlee, and Samantha Suptela.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending memorials to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28112.
