Sue Wilkerson Aycock

December 20, 1940 — April 14, 2024

Sue Anne Wilkerson Aycock, 83, of Matthews, NC peacefully passed away on April 14, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Little Rock, AR on December 20, 1940, daughter to the late Royal Eugene “Buster” Wilkerson and Lucille Akers Wilkerson.


A private family graveside service was held.


Sue is survived by her two sons Dr. Charles Brantley Aycock III and Dr. J. David Aycock, and daughter-in-law Courtnay Aycock. She was preceded in death last September by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Charles Brantley Aycock, Jr.


Sue graduated from the University of Arkansas, where she was a proud member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Soon after, she met her future husband in Memphis, TN and they were married on September 21, 1963.


In addition to raising her sons, Sue was a steadfast animal lover and was never without a family pet or two. She supported animal charities and championed animal rights.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 1348 Parker Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208 - but memorials to the charity of your choice are also welcome.


The family would like to thank the staff at  Atrium Health Hospice of Union County, for the compassionate care they provided.
