Susan Shaw

Susan Foglesong Shaw, 84, of Monroe, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Born in Kanawha County, WV on November 22, 1937, daughter to the late William Russell and Norma Staton Foglesong. She was preceded in death by her two brothers and one sister.

Susan was born in South Charleston, WV to a wonderfully talented and Christian family. She learned the importance of faith and her love for music at an early age, and kept it close to her heart throughout her life. An extraordinarily talented musician, Susan shared her love of music throughout her life as a teacher, a performer, an accompanist, a church organist, and a singer.
After graduating from A-B College in Philippi, WV, she taught at Clendenin High School where she met her future husband and love of her life, Bob. Susan loved her family and friends dearly and was kind to everyone she met. If you knew Susan, you were lucky to have met one of the best people you will ever know.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Wingate Baptist Church, 109 E. Elm Street, Wingate, NC 28174. The family will receive friends and family from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC, 28112.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert A. Shaw, two sons, Jeff Shaw (Laura), Ken Shaw (Karen), four daughters, Norma Carvalho, Debby Robertson, Martha Cholewinski (Tom), and Kate Shaw, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
